About Us
Metro Business Opportunities is an autonomous, not-for-profit corporation serving urban and rural Newfoundland and Labrador. Since inception in 1991, Metro Business Opportunities Corporation has established itself as a key player in the economic development community serving St. John's and Mount Pearl. Formerly the South Side Community Development Fund Corporation, the organization was originally set up as a result of the closure of the National Sea Products fish plant, to assist the displaced employees in creating economic development opportunities.
MBO is managed by a volunteer board representing a cross section of our community, decisions are made for the community by the community. With a staff complement of six, MBO can offer hands on personal counseling to entrepreneurs which, according to many, has proven to mean the difference between success and failure. MBO's experienced counselors can draw upon a variety of professional backgrounds from which entrepreneurs can benefit.
MBO has helped hundreds of entrepreneurs realize their dream of self-employment over the years and continue to be actively involved every day with the business community.
